State Farm’s NBA Comic Camera Fan Activation Using Generative Art

State Farm Comic

State Farm ComicThe Marketing Arm hired Groove Jones to develop an interactive camera experience for their client, State Farm, for this year’s NBA season. This interactive experience was used with State Farm’s NBA Concourse activations. State Farm allowed fans to become immortalized as NBA comic book heroes on a printed takeaway via AI-powered generative art.

The camera App would dynamically create an illustrated version of the fan’s face, which would then be composited into an action pose of their team. A poster was then printed on-site for the fan as a takeaway.

Brand ambassadors assisted the fans in selecting their action pose from 6 female and six male comic book layouts.  They then take a photo of the fan and customize the effects, creating a unique and personalized image using simple and intuitive controls in the App. The fan’s face was stylized to resemble an illustration using a custom AI-powered Transfer Filter by Groove Jones.

The fan’s name was also added to the takeaway as well.

Printed Takeaway for Every Fan

The brand ambassador will then send the image to a printer onsite. The app will also post the picture to a cloud-based email server to deliver the file to the user digitally. The printed poster was a big hit for the fans.
